Objectives:
Using a natural capital accounting approach, define and quantify the socio-economic value of the ecosystem services and benefits provided by BCEs
Define and quantify the value of BC systems for biodiversity, and where relevant, coastal protection
Tasks:
Assess the range of ecosystem services delivered to societies by the identified BCEs
Survey of willingness to pay for BCEs conservation/restoration
Modelling of the public preferences for ecosystem services and the welfare impacts of changes in the provision of BC ecosystem services

Review of previous BC valuation studies with assessment of ecosystem services provided by Irish BCEs
Survey instrument and discrete choice experiment design for collection of public opinion data and WTP information
Report /paper on model results and welfare impacts from a number of future scenarios involving BCEs
Paper on the travel cost modelling approach
Guideline document for local communities and management that outlines practical solutions for financing BCE projects in Ireland
